About Me
My favorite trip was in college when I went to the Dominican Republic on a service trip. During this trip, we visited El Chivo preschool and I had the opportunity to teach for the day. I also had the opportunity to work with the children in the mobile medical clinic. This was such a humbling experience and will have forever impacted my life.
When I am not outside, traveling or teaching the rest of the time I spend with my dog, Jack.
Thanks for visiting The Small Moments Teacher! My name is Anna Hagstrom and I created this blog to share my passion and knowledge of being a teacher.
I am a first year teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan and I love to be outdoors! You can always find me outside going hiking, spending time in the hammock, or doing outdoor yoga classes. Last year, I traveled to Banff National Park and had the opportunity to climb Castle Mountain.
I graduated from Aquinas College in 2018 with a degree in Elementary Education with a major in Early Childhood Development and a minor in English as a Second Language.
After getting a teaching job in first grade, I decided to return to college in pursuit of a Masters in Instruction and Curriculum with an
emphasis in Educational Differentiation. I plan to graduation from Grand Valley State University with this degree in 2021.

Teaching Philosophy
Hands-on, student driven, cooperative learning drives my curriculum and teaching philosophy.
My classroom runs on high energy engagement, positivity and inquiry based learning. I believe that student choice allows students to become invested in their own learning which will lead them to become curious life long learners.
This blog is called the small moments teacher because I believe that in the chaos of teaching, the most important thing we can do as teachers is to take a step back, slow down and find those small moments of teaching gold that brought us into the field of education.
